Wanna know one of the reasons I love Firefox? Because when I'm reading Trench Doc and he uses words like succinylcholine and my lay brain thinks "what the hell is that?" I can double click on the word to highlight it, where upon a small red bound box appears under the word. I mouse over the box and The Free Dictionary is kind enough to give me a very detailed definition of said word. For example:
Of course, this leads to a desperate need to find out what "esterification" means, which leads to a whole hour's worth of dictionary-ing because I'm just the type of person who will occasionally sit down and actually read a dictionary. Usually when I run out of serial killer books.
A crystalline compound, C14H30N2O4, formed by esterification of succinic acid with choline and used medically to produce brief but complete muscular relaxation. This sounds like GREAT STUFF. I wonder if I can use it to shut up The Husband when he starts snoring at a decibel that sounds like the infamous description of a tornado "It sounded like a freight train coming through the living room!".

I recently migrated over to Firefox. (Migrated makes me think of the old joke I just flew into town and boy are my arms tired.) I didn't do it because Billy Gates is SATAN (although of course, he is) but rather because IE developed this annoying habit of opening in a compressed manner i.e., (haha) with the width of one third of my screen. I didn't feel like getting a PhD to determine how to fix it and I've heard "Ohhhh Candy Mountain" um no I've heard "OHHHH FIREFOX" for so long that I decided "Why The Hell Not Kinky" um no I decided "Why The Hell Not Firefox".
I've been....happy! I looove tabbed browsing because I'm totally schizoid when I'm surfing - not unusual for me to end up with 8-10 versions of IE opened at once. Tabbed browsing rocks. AND I've been playing around with add on features. I like Stumble! because it offers mindless surfing within a category. But my favorite (which I just found a couple of days ago) is Cool Iris. This little flirt allows me to view whatever is behind a link without actually clicking on it. I find this to be incredibly satisfying. I know I know the new IE has tabs, too. BUT very much like ExxonMobil, they lost my business before they improved. Not to suggest that ExxonMobil has improved but it was the closest analogy I could come up with considering how much Darvocet I swallowed today.
I also got trucked over to Blogger Beta today so ya'll let me know if AC blows up or anything, ok? Gracias.
