My sister and I had the joy earlier this week of spending yet MORE time in a hospital sleeping on tortuous furniture. She had part of her thyroid removed. It is amazing to see my sister's neck looking like something out of The Chainsaw Massacre. The drain they left sticking out of her chest was particularly amazing and we've both spend a few days looking at it, measuring the bloody goo that it fills up with, emptying it, and speculating about where it's actually coming from because there is a huge bandage the size of Rhode Island covering it. Today we are going to get it removed.
The best part is that she owns a cat who is a total bitch. I call her and say "So how is the bitch?" and she knows exactly what I am asking.
Last night was the first night my sister was at home. I said, "I know that bitch is going to want to play with that drain."
So when my sister called me this morning the first thing she said was "I woke up this morning and though I was blind."
In the middle of the night she was fighting with the bitch over the drain. To protect it she put a pillow over it and her head to cover them both and the hugged the pillow tightly to her body. In her deep, narcotic induced sleep, she didn't remember doing it so when she awoke this morning her eyes were covered by the pillow. She has no tolerance for narcotics at all. She should just give them all to me.

omgosh @ her being blind! that would be so funny to watch someone freak out over a pillow.
i was worried a cat hair would get in that drain thing. but, ugh, i couldn't look at it. i am a 110% coward when it comes to anything medical.
even feeling gauze & tasting blood in my own mouth makes me want to hurl.
i'd better stop talking about this, i feel lunch coming up.
okay, so i hope your sister heals quickly so she'll have some good drugs left over for ya!
